Customer Review: Cedar Plank Conflagration

Well I decided to try cedar plank grilling and I bought two sets of cedar and alder boards. I carefully followed the directions and soaked the plank in water for over an hour. I then put it on the grill, waited for it to smoke slightly and placed my salmon on the wood. I even turned the flame down under the wood. Within less than five minutes the plank was burning. I used water to put out the fire, but the damage was done. Most of the plank and my fish was reduced to ash. I've done some research and I don't think that 1/4 inch planks will work.
